This exciting full Thoroughbred stallion is at stud for the very first time in 2024 and offers mare owners a rare chance to use a beautifully uphill sire in all three paces who is blessed with Hand In Glove and Primitive Rising in his pedigree and also shares breeding with Alice Casburn’s Team GBR Eventing Gold Medallist Topspin.

Velvet Glove was intentionally bred as a Sports Horse Sire to support the needs of the most demanding International Eventing and Showing mare owners.  He has an exceptional front, incredibly lad back temperament and has the most wonderful movement which is what you would expect from a stallion with such a beautiful conformation.

WFFS Status:  are awaiting the outcome of his WFFS Status and will publish this shortly.

A World Class Dam line bringing 1.60m show jumping & CCI5*
winning genetics.

Velvet Glove’s dam Templar Romance is a Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain Head Stud Book mare who scored 9’s and 10’s at her grading under the judging of former Burghley CCI5* winner Judy Bradwell and Stuart Campbell; her final score was less than one mark behind William Fox-Pitt’s CCI5* ride Grafennacht who was second at Maryland CCI5* in 2023.  Templar Romance is a beautiful mare with an uphill frame and it is no surprise that she was a Champion Hack and Champion Riding Horse in the Show Ring herself.

Templar Romance has a history of producing exceptional foals. Her first foal bred by the Gemini Stud called Geminis Connection was bought for CCI5* eventer Andrew Downes, Velvet Glove was her second foal, her third foal Geminis Miners Glove was sold to a prestigious event horse owner in the USA and her fourth foal Churchill’s Rose was the Leading Foal in Great Britan under the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britan Foal Gradings 2023 on a National basis scoring 9’s and 10’s under former Burghley winner Judy Bradwell.

Templar Romance brings the bloodlines of Hand In Glove and Primitive Rising to Velvet Glove’s pedigree.  Hand In Glove was a full Thoroughbred who after a career in racing went on to show jump at 1.60m and compete in pure dressage at Prix St George; however his greatest claim to fame was to go on to sire the phenomenal stallion Jaguar Mail who show jumped at the Hong Kong Olympics.

Jaguar Mail has previously held the title of Leading Sire of Eventers in the World and is the sire of Andrew Hoy’s Tokyo Olympics dual medallist Vassily De Lassos and Austin O’Connors 2023 Maryland CCI5* winner Colorado Blue who was also 3rd at Badminton the same year.  Jaguar Mail has gone on to sire 16 horses who show jumped between 1.50m and 1.60m.  In all, Jaguar Mail sired 20 horses who have gone on to compete between CCI4* and CCI5*. Pippa Funnell joins Andrew Hoy & Austin O’Connor with Jaguar Mail five star rides and successfully campaigned Maybach upon whom she was 6th at Kentucky CCI5*.

Primitive Rising is the sire of not one but two Kentucky CCI5* winners in William Fox-Pitt’s Cool Mountain upon whom William also won a Team Gold and Individual Silver Medal at the World Equestrian and Mary King’s King’s Mistress.  Primitive Rising still today also holds the title of the most Burghley Young Event Horse Final Winners with a grand total of 5; no other stallion has been able to match this in over a 30 year period.

A refreshing sire line that relates Velvet Glove to a Team GBR Eventing Gold Medallist.

Velvet Glove’s sire Andes represents not only proven beauty but also a sire of Advanced Event horses and a refreshing genetic diversity in Thoroughbred event horse breeding. Andes produced an Advanced Event ride for Oliver Townend in Red Andes Fanfare and is also blessed with the bloodlines of Shirley Heights in his pedigree who also appears in the breeding of Alice Casburn’s Team GBR Gold Medallist Topspin (who was also 7th at Burghley CCI5* in 2023) and winners at almost every County Show Ground across the UK.

Velvet Glove is exceptionally kind and whilst he has a world class sports horse pedigree for International Eventing he also offers breeders of Show Horses the chance to use a full thoroughbred stallion to produce offspring with trainable temperaments.
